One more week to go!!!!!!
I have loved every minute of my internship, but I’m ready for a real – paycheck – honest to goodness – job!
(well, it might just cut into my newfound knitting time, but hey…at least I’ll have money for yarn!!!)
Sooo busy with last minute homework, etc., but I’ll keep y’all posted!!

Update: Finally, at long, long last —- I’m starting my INTERNSHIP!!!
Hallelujah! I start at the Public Defender’s office tomorrow – March 15, 2010.
I’m feeling (in no order of importance):
- Excited
- Nervous
- Sick to my stomach
- Happy
- Sad
- Sick to my stomach – ok, not sick, but butterflies, for sure!
I spent 3 HOURS yesterday, looking for some new shoes to wear to “work”. Since the Courthouse is only 1/2 mile from my house – another reason I’m excited – and I haven’t been working for the last couple of years, my shoe collection is in some serious disrepair. Now, why did it take so long, do you ask? All I needed were 2 pairs of decent looking work shoes – professional, low heel (so I can walk to work), in black and brown.
Well – I’m here to tell you, all they are selling nowadays are STRIPPER SHOES!!! Yes, there are a plethora of extremely high heel, strappy (open toes – NOT professional), uncomfortable to walk in shoes…but no professional shoes!!! ARGH! Even the old standby NORSTROM, who are famous for their shoe collection, had mainly stripper-style heels. ACK! I finally found a couple of OK pairs at Marshalls, which I bought in desperation. My god, who knew the shoes would be the hardest part of internship? I did find the ultimate work shoe online, at the EARTH SHOES website – see photo above- but since I haven’t worked in a couple of years, they are out of my price range. Hey Santa……….
Now, where is my good brown purse………………..
*********************************************************************************
I think I can, I think I can…………… Why oh why did I ever think I could do this?
This term: ALGEBRA (yes, I purchased a graphing calculator, the TI 83 plus, used on craigslist for $40 plus the gas to drive up to Santa Barbara and back), GROUP DYNAMICS (we learn how to work with people….gee, what a concept! Oh yes, I pay good money for this), and PROBATE/WILLS AND TRUSTS (we won’t go there at the moment, gulp)
The good news – this is my last full term of classes! Yes, ten more weeks of homework, then I get to intern at a super cool law office and meet exciting people and do glamorous things …or NOT. I just hope I can find a place who wants someone like me. Would you trust this woman?
